CTL15 - Layer Ignition Temperature Apparatus

For determining the minimum ignition temperature for a given thickness of powder deposited on a hot surface.

Benefits

  • Designed for testing to IEC 61241-2, EN 50281-2-1 & ASTM E2021 for specifying the maximum surface temperature of electrical and non-electrical equipment
  • Tests can be performed on a range of sample depths including 5, 12.5 or 15mm depths
  • Data can be recorded permanently
  • Compact size
  • Novel sloping edge shield design located under the hotplate surface to permit expanding samples to run down into a drip tray located under the hot-plate unit

Layer Ignition Test Apparatus

layer ignition temp

The Layer ignition temperature test apparatus permits the determination of minimum ignition temperature of a given thickness of powder deposited on a hot surface. The method is used for the specification of the "T" temperature rating of electrical equipment for use in hazardous areas (dusty atmospheres). It is also relevant to other industrial equipment where dust is present on hot surfaces in thin layers exposed to the atmosphere and is manufactured in accordance with IEC 61241-2 and EN 50281-2-1.

Functional Specification & Deliverables
